The chronicles of CNN's boot camp known as The VJ Program. We Peon Warriors began meeting here to share humiliating and humorous stories about early encounters with CNN anchors, directors, producers and brutal cafeteria employees. We divulged what it was like to be broke, foolish and referred to not by name but by function. And while we've moved on in life...the inner Peon still remains.

UPDATE
My CNN pal from the previous post wrote in to say:
"I forgot to mention that when I grumbled to Human Resources about how awful the starting salary at CNN was, they actually said:
'Yes, but we pay you in sunshine!'
It took all my strength not to say:
"Well, since photosynthesis isn't a fucking option for me, I don't see how that helps."
Note to CNN HR:
When you're sentencing a guy to a life of working overnights, coupon-clipping and discount underpants, it's best not to make jolly housewife quips about sunshine.

"Sounds like someone's got a case of the Mondays!" Had that been HR's next retort, that's where the shooting would have started. As for paying in sunshine, clearly that HR person never got their head out of their ass long enough to see that the CNN Center wasn't exactly sunny. Sh*t brown tiles in the atrium...and a giant planter where they filmed a show called "Talk Back Live." That is not sunshine. That's the elevator to hell. "
1st Floor, going down....Blimpie, Le Petit Bistro, Great Wraps....Purgatory, going down...Talk Back Live, MARTA, That Dry Cleaner that lost your clothes...Gates of Hell, going down...People in Dockers, peolple that wear Dockers with white sneakers, douches that wear beepers on their belts.
Damn, it's kinda full down here.
